About the Illinois Employer Advocacy Initiative
(IEAI)
Employers
supported Career and Technical Education (CTE) in the past by advising
on program content, sponsoring events, hiring students, and providing
resources such as equipment and scholarships.
Now
more than ever, employer advocacy is needed to support the continuation
and strengthening of secondary (9-12) CTE programs.
This
initiative seeks the participation of key business representatives
to assure that CTE receives a priority in funding by state and federal
programs.
The
Illinois Employer Advocacy Initiative seeks insight and input from
employer members to guide decision-making, funding, and strategy.
Goals
To
assist CTE program operations and statewide leadership, improvement
and accountability activities in gaining support from federal and
state funding sources.
To
assure that the Education for Employment Systems serve as lead agents
to oversee K-12 career education and transition to post-secondary
training.
To
support the Illinois State Board of Education as the administrative
agency for K-12 CTE workforce development to ensure alignment with
post-secondary education.
